RE: 80 per cent of doctors condemn elderly care

i find this a bit hipocritical. i work in intermediate care hospital based community trust [last time i checked]!! Acute hospital doctors are only keen to discharge the elderly to my area then complain when my beds are full, takes time to plan discharges and packages of care. GP's - well whatever happened to the over 75 checks??? they are interested in not being interupted and send the older person straight to hospital thus the never ending circle perpetuates. have GP's never heard of emergency social care? i have also worked in mental health and do agree not enough money is going into elderly services whatever patients they may look after. health are the clever ones that keep people alive therefore we will of course have more elderly people. please look after them it will happen to us all
