Although these new initiatives sound wonderful and seem to be effective I do wonder if there will be enough money available to role them out in such a large number. Not only is there the issue of technical equipment and IT, but the staffing of services, premises, accessibilty, patient ability to use the equipment, etc. Also will dementia sufferes be able to use the equipment themselves? Sorry to sound such a stick in the mud, but if we consider the realities of implementation and sutaination of services then all these sort of things HAVe to be considered ratheer than running headlong in to yet another expensive failure due to lack of pre-planning and preparation. These initiative may work well when the number of users is small, but when you think in terms of tens or even hundreds of thousands would it still work as efficiently?
Opinions are just that - they are not the same for each individual, although some may be of the same mind. Martin :o)
