    Dear Susan,

The cost is £10 or £50 depending on what kind of record it is (computerised or manual record).

You can access the whole list of private fees at http://www.healthcarerepublic.com/practice/NonNHSCharges/D/

Please note that you need to be registered on Healthcare Republic to access the database

    Many thanks

    Emilie

    Hi Emilie

Is there anything in law preventing a practice from passing the original medical records to solicitors & insurance companies for copying? In-house copying of the records is a very time-consuming exercise which places added pressure on the practice staff and we are keen to explore possible alternatives. Any thoughts?

    Many thanks

    Frazer

    Hi Frazer,

Thanks for your message. I would advise you to contact your medico-legal provider to get some expert advice on this.

Although patients do give their consent, there is still a confidentiality issue here.

Sorry I can't be of more help here.

    Many thanks

    Emilie
