Antibiotics in pregnancy 'increases cerebral palsy risk'

Prescribing antibiotics to women at-risk of giving birth prematurely could increase the risk of functional impairment and cerebral palsy in their children, according to UK research.

Your topic is very attractive and useful but you should conclude with other antibiotics like cephalosporin or other pregnancy safety B level too. Thank you, Bhandit Kitisopakul, Pharmacist\(Thailand)

It is interesting information. However, if antibiotics were NOT prescribed in these pregnant mothers in premature labour 1) inections occurred 2)premature birth resulted, what long term effects would these have? Also do we have any side effect free alternatives?

MIMS gives professional's information for Health professional around the world about Pregnancy safety index,

Generally, most health professionals concern and avoid  about the negative results from using antibiotics for pregnancy women but no choice to avoid when the sign of infection occurs like toothache, tonsilitis, sinusitis etc. The good information is in MIMS.  No Pregnancy safety index(PSI)   A,  the PSI B will be the drug of choices. If the research will be arranged, I recommend for you or others to do research about what is the safetyest  drug of choice in  antibiotics category.   It's better than only warning issues. Every health professional also work for all patients in the best  practice.

    Thanks
