QOF undermines GP/patient relationship, warns think tank

The GP/patient relationship is being undermined by the government's target culture, according to think tank Civitas.

I disagree that QOF is open to abuse. GPs are professionals, not some dodgy cowboys, and the implication that we "game" QOF is quite frankly insulting. However, I do concede that QOF does interfere with the Dr-patient relationship. Having a blood pressure check or being offered smoking cessation advice time after time after time may well not be on their agenda when they come to see their GP. Unfortunately QOF data collection often encroaches on their precious 10 minutes with the doctor.

QOF though designed to improve quality of care is open to abuse
